Father's Day

Father and Son/Daughter

Let me be that shoulder you lean on
Can’t they understand that you’re my little man/lady

Let me make you smile instead of frown
For little do they know the power that grows
Our love is one without bottom

A yearning that lingers throughout the seasons

We are Royalty who rule from within
Stand up, be humble and face the struggle
My love is solid, unchanging
Such depth some folks can’t fathom
Play your part as a strong man/woman

For I am with you always now and beyond

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Proverbs 3:21

Celebrating My Caribbean Heritage

BLACK HAIR

Hair, hair, hair
It's everywhere
Long, tall, short, beads
Curly, straight, kinky
Thick, thin
Where ever it is beautiful
Black hair
We weave, lock, coil
Braid, twist, color
Relax, natural
Black hair
This clearly distinguishes
People of African decent
Africans, Americans, Caribbean
Latinos, Europeans, Natives and Mixed
Black hair
An art form to some
Some a culture, a style
A show of spirituality
An awakening, hidden identity
Black hair
For me a Dugla-Guyanese
I love to express my afro centricity with
Long, soft, relaxed, beautifully colored, styled
Black hair
